MONTESSORI

Hier in Amerika war es das erste Mal das ich einem MOSAIC  Montessori Kindergarten hospitieren durfte. Es gibt zwei Gruppen eine Toddler group mit Kindern vom zweiten bis zum dritten Lebensjahr und eine primary group mit Kindern vom dritten bis zum sechsten Lebensjahr.

Auch ein Babykurs vom alter sechs wochen bis 18 Monate mit einen Elternteil fuer jeweils 8 Stunden Samstags kann in Anspruch genommen werden. Wo das Elternteil mit ihrem Kind gemeinsam mit einem Material arbeitet unterstuetzt von einer ausgebildetetn Montessoripaedagogin.

Die Montessoripaedagogik ist eine gute praxis fuer das taegliche Leben und die Kinder arbeiten mit verschiedensten Alltagsmaterialien im positiven Sinne und es gibt kein Spielzeug sondern Arbeitsmaterial und es wird nicht gespielt sondern gearbeitet im positiven Sinne.

Kleinkindgruppe

In dieser Gruppe sind 12 Kinder.

Der Raum ist gross und mit vielen Fenstern und in weiss gehalten. Das Material ist dem alter der Kinder passend abgestimmt. Die Einrichtung ist auf die Groesse der Kinder abgestimmt. Alle Kinder arbeiten in diesem grossen Raum. Die Kinder arbeiten zusammen in kleinen Gruppen oder arbeiten alleine an einem Material.

Die Paedagoginnen erklaeren das Material und zeigen es vor. Jede Handlung wird sprachlich unterstuetzt. Jedoch betreffend die genaue Handhabung der Materialien wird zum Beispiel bei den sogenannten Schuett und Loeffeluebungen bzw. Bei den Sinnesmaterialien die Sprache eher reduziert, da das Kind es bewusst mit seinen Sinnen aufnehmen soll. Es wird dem Material und der Handlung selbst mehr Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Das Kind soll sowenig wie moeglich Ablenkung erfahren und sich auf das material und die Handhabung des Materials konzentrieren. Die Kinder lernen nach dem das Material richtig verwendet wurde, wieder es genau an dem Platz zurueckzuraeumen wo es vorgefunden wurde. Jedes Material hat seinen eigenen Platz wo es hingehoert. Erst wenn das eine Material weggerauemt wurde darf ein anderes zum Spielen hergeraeumt werden.

Dadurch lernen die Kinder von beginn an Selbststaendigkeit. Bestimmte Materialien werden nur zu einer bestimmten Zeit angeboten und an bestimmten dafuer  ausgerichteten Orten, wenn waehrend dessen das Materiel in dieser bestimmten Zeit angeboten und aber die bestimmten Plaetze fuer das Material schon besetzt sind von anderen Kindern, dann heisst es fuer das Kind warten. Dies hilft dabei die Frustrationstoleranz des Kindes zu staerken. Genauso gibt es von den meisten Arbeitsmaterialien jeweils nur ein Stueck.

Die Atmosphere im Kleinkindraum war sehr angenehm und ruhig.

Die Kinder in der Kleinkind Gruppe kommen in der Frueh um 8:30 und bleiben bis 11:45

Von 8:30 bis 10:30 ist die Arbeitsperiode

Am Vormittag um 10:30 wird gemeinsam die Jause eingenommen

Danach wird eine Musik oder Bewegungseinheit von 30 Minuten geboten dann gehen die Kinder noch bis zum Kindergartenende in den Park.

Material im Kleinkindraum:

-Puzzle passend zum Alter der Kinder

-Sound Memory passend zum Alter der Kinder (klopfen an der Tuer, Miauen Katze, Bellen Hund, wasser (das mit kohelsaeure versetzt ist) in ein glas fuellen) -wird bei der Musikeinheit geboten

-Fuehlen von verschiedenen Gegenstaenden, wie fuehlt sich ein Schneebesen an, wie sieht er aus, kleiner Papierkalender, Paedagogin fragt, wie sieht der Kalender aus, wie fuehl er sich an benennt ihn auch usw. Das gleiche mit einer Haarspange aus Metall…

-eine Giraffe aus Holz duerfen die Kinder mit einem Ol polieren

uvm.

Hauptgruppe od. Familiengruppe

Hier sind die Kinder vom dritten Lebensjahr bis zum sechsten Lebensjahr und es sind 27 bis 28 Kinder in dieser Gruppe. Diese Gruppe kann bis zu 30 Kindern ausgedehnt werden, doch die 2 Montessoripaedagoginnen versuchen die Gruppenanzahl bei 27 bis 28 zu halten.

Die Kinder koennen die Montessorieinrichtung ab 8:30 bis 17 Uhr besuchen.

Ab ca. 10 bis 11:45 Uhr ist eine gleitende Jause wo immer jeweils 2 bis 3 Kinder ihre Jause essen duerfen

Wenn Kinder bis 14 Uhr bleiben koennen die Kinder auch Mittagessen um 12: 30 einnehmen.

Auch in diesen Raum war eine angenehme Lautstaerke.

Kinder arbeiten alleine oder auch in kleinen Arbeitsgruppen.

Die Paedagoginnen schauen das jedes Kind das Material auch richtig verwendet. Sie sind auch achtsam das jedes Kind ein Material hat an das es arbeitet. Es gibt nicht das ein Kind nichts tut.

Wenn die Paedagogin ein neues Material einfuehrt macht sie es meist in Kleingruppen und zeigt es vor.

Material im Hauptraum

Kinder legen auf einem Tuch einen Satz mit druckbuschstaben, sowie schreibschrift. Dabei arbeiten daran maximal ein bis zwei Kinder. Zwei Kinder legen Kaertchen mit den Zahlen richtig auf 1 fuer Einer und 10 fuer Zaehner und 100 100unterter usw…

Andere Kinder machen mit den Perlenmaterial eine lange Kette und moechten herausfinden wie viele Perlen ich fuer welche laenge brauche.

Ein anderes Kind versucht ein Puzzle von einem Kontinent mit den jeweiligen Staedten richtig zusammen zu setzen.

Jeweils ein Kind liest einer Paedagogin ihre selbst gemachtes kleines Buch vor.

Jeweils ein Kind darf mit den Farbschablonen Farbverlaeufe legen, Paedagogin unterstuetzt, falls das Kind noch Schwierigkeiten hat um die richtigen Farbverlaeufe zuerkennen, welche Farbe kommt als naechstes?...

Es gibt auch Kinder die zweisprachig aufwachsen und deshalb kommt auch einmal in der Woche ein Spanisch Lehrer.

MONTESSORI

The first time I visited a Montessori institution was in America.

The institution I picked has two groups; a toddler group with children ages two to three years old and a primary group with kids from three to six years.

This Montessori institution offers a baby course for children 6 weeks old to 18 months old babies. This course is for babies with a parent and it is usually on Saturdays for one hour.

The course takes eight weeks in a row.

In this course the babies together with the parents discover new materials and practice the methods of Maria Montessori with a trained educationalist.

  

The Montessori education is a good practice for daily routines of life. The kids work with different daily routine materials in a positive and useful way. The materials are not toys, but work material. It is not play time, it is work time in a positive sense and in a positive way.

Toddler group

In this group are 12 kids. The room is suitable and big enough for the 12 kids and painted white. The material is suitable for the age of the kids. The furniture fits for their bodies. Kids are working in small groups or alone on a special material.

Montessori educationalists explain the material to the kids and show them how to use it. Every act is supported by speech but it depends on the material. Actions like pouring and shoveling practice will be focused more on doing and the speech will be reduced.

The kid should concentrate on the material that they are working on at the moment, not get distracted from somebody or something.

The kids learn if you use a material you put it back exactly where it was.

Each material has his own place and own rules to use and to practice. The kids have to put one material away first before they take another out.

Thereby the kids learn to be independent. Some materials are only offered on specific times and at specific places. Often there is only enough material for one kid to use but only one kid can practice with it.

So the kids have to wait if one kid is already practicing with this material. This is good because the Kids learn to wait and simultaneously the frustration tolerance grows.

The atmosphere in the toddler room was pleasant and calm.

The kids in the toddler room are coming in the morning at 8:30 to 11:45.

Puzzles suitable for the age of the kids

Sound memory also suitable of the age of the kids for example (knocking on a door, cat- meow, dog-wuff(barking) this sound memory was offered at the 30 minutes during the music time.

Different materials to touch and discover were offered by an Montessori educationalist  like wisk, spoon, little skratch book. The educationalist asked the kid questions about the material. How does the whisk feel when you touch it.  How can use the whisk, what does the whisk look like. Which material is the whisk made out of. The educationalist is doing this with every object (5 objects)

The kids are also allowed to polish a wooden giraffe with wood oil.  

Primary group or family group

In this group are kids from 3 to 6 years old and this group has around 28 kids. This group can be extended to 30 kids but the two Montessori educationalists in this group prefer 28 kids.

Some kids visit the institution from 8:30 am to 5pm.

Around 10 till 11:45 there is a snack time, always two till three kids can eat there snacks. If the kids staying till 2 pm then there is lunch time at 12:30

Also in this bigger room was a pleasant atmosphere during my visit.

Kids are mostly working alone or in little working groups (max. 6 kids).

The educationalists are making sure that every kid uses the material right. They are also paying attention that every kid works on a material. There is no kid who has nothing to do.

New materials are introduced, explained and shown by the Montessori educationalists in little groups.

  

The material in the primary or family group

Kids are building sentences with wood letters on a scarf or little pad. Two kids are working on the sentence. The other two kids are putting numbers in the right order.

Four kids are putting beads together and try to find out how many beads they need for how many inch and how many feet.

One kid tries to complete a puzzle with the continent Europe. There is one kid reading a hand made book to the educationalist.

One kid is trying to find the next right color that fits to the color gardient. The educationalist is supporting the kid if they have any troubles with the material.

 There are also kids who are growing up bilingual and every week is a Spanish teacher coming.
